"A Magnificent Building!"

These words are heard everyday by the people that work at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.

A building of this size and magnificence will probably never again be built in Australia.

The Shrine has five levels:

The ground floor where a large visitor centre houses a gift shop, media presentation cinema, an education centre for school groups and displays of war time memorabilia.

The 'Crypt' with it's 'Father & Son' statue.

The 'Sanctuary' with the 'Stone of Remembrance' which is illuminated by a ray of sunlight during the minutes silence on Remembrance Day ( 11th November ).

The 'Balcony' for panoramic views of the City of Melbourne.

The 'Upper Balcony' - Now out of bounds to visitors.

Many hundreds of visitors pour through it's doors everyday and stand in awe as they admire it's ambience and presence.
